A solicitor and District judge, he married Gill and they had three sons: Peter (Cycle Tour Organiser), Tony (a Musician) and John (a Social Worker). Peter married Fozia and they have one son Innis. John is married to Lorna and they have two children Hanna and Gemma.

Richard (a Teacher of the Deaf) is married to Linna and they live in Kent.
