McGAHEY Representatives of civic professional and other activities of the city were among the large attendance at the memorial service in Exeter Cathedral yesterday for Alderman Michael John McGahey, of Thrushelton, Polsloe road, Exeter for many years a leading personality in Exeter affairs and in the west country legal. Mr McGahey 71 was senior partner for Messrs Dunn and Baker solicitors. Exeter member of the city council for 35 years and a one-time Deputy Mayor. For a long period he was Chairman of Exeter Football Club. He was also a prominent Freemason. The remain were cremated at Plymouth. The service was lead by the succentor (Rev. R. C. B. Liewellyn). The Bishop of Crediton, who is prov, G. M. of Devon Freemasons, reed the lesson, and the Dean (Dr. S. C. Carpenter) gave the blessing. The choir lead the Psalm XXIII, and the Hymns "Jerusalem, my happy home" and "Abide with me". The acting sub-organist (Mr. F. Gandy Bradford, P. P. G. O. and M. P. St. Georges Lodge), played Choplin's funeral March and Handel's Dead March in "Saul." Immediate mourners at the Cathedral were Mr. H. V. McGahey, Flt-Lieut. A. J. McGahey, Master P.
